The Halloween Walk

Ghosts, pirates, pumpkins and superheroes: Downtown Kirkwood is closing streets for an evening of trick-or-treating, and every little goblin is invited. Thursday, October 29, 2026 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Shops around Downtown Kirkwood will be handing out sweets until the candy bowls run dry, so come early and bring the biggest bag you can carry.

The Plan for the Night

• 4 pm - 5 pm - Warm-up at City Hall. Kirkwood City Hall (139 S. Kirkwood Rd.) kicks things off an hour early with its own candy stop.
• 5 pm - 7 pm - The main event. Stroll the heart of downtown and pop into the participating shops below. Treats are free for kids while supplies last.

Good to Know: Street Closures & Parking

To keep every witch and wizard safe, the Kirkwood Police will close Kirkwood Road between Monroe and Adams, plus East and West Argonne and Jefferson, from roughly 4 pm to 7:30 pm. A few tips:

• Plan to park outside the closed-off blocks and walk in.
• If your car is already inside the closure and you need to leave mid-event, an officer will help guide you out.
• Officers will be posted at busy corners to help families cross safely.
• Driving nearby that evening? Slow down and keep an eye out for costumed pedestrians.
